The wireline tools of the 3 3/8“ product line are the core business of ANTARES*. We offer a large range of tools and are continuously expanding this product line. All tools run under a telemetry and are rated 175 Deg.C / 350 Deg.F and 140 MPa / 20,000 psi
They are specifically designed for the challenging oil and gas industry. The combinability of the tools helps to reduce rig time and the ruggedized design minimizes down time. The tools are accepted by State and International Oil Companies because the response and the accuracy of the tools provide logs comparable to those of major service companies.
Once you purchase our tools, we become partners and offer you a tailor made package according to your requirements. The package can consist of training, commissioning, maintenance and even research and development activities – it’s your choice.

ANTARES developed a Micro Resistivity Imager with 6-arm design compatible with all ANTARES 3 3/8" Open Hole Instruments. The tool meets the ANTARES standard operating ratings: Temperature 175°C (350°F) and Pressure 135 MPa (20,000 psi). The Micro Resistivity Imager provides essential data for the formation evaluation by measuring the formation microconductivity through an array of resistivity sensors. Motorized arms press the pads with the sensors firmly against the borehole wall ensuring good contact to the formation for a high quality image. The pad design also reduces the effects of washouts and borehole rugosity. The best results can be achieved in conductive, water-based muds.
In comparison to an Acoustic Imager, the Resistivity Instrument has a 10 times higher spatial resolution and an approximately 500 times higher amplitude resolution due to the difference in contrast between the resistivity and acoustic impedance ranges. The Resistivity Imager is always run in combination with the Orientation Sub providing all information on Deviation and Azimuth of the tools.
The ASAP system together with the Telemetry / GR tool as part of a tool string provides a high degree of combinability and flexibility. Several instruments can be run in one string resulting in significant reductions in rig-time. The following diagram shows just some of the possibilities.

The wireline tools of the 2 ½“ product line are a result of the close cooperation between ANTARES and its customers*. Many of our customers were asking us for suitable tools to be deployed in a 4” borehole. In response, we developed SHARP (Slim Hole ANTARES Reservoir Probes). Currently we offer a Quad Combo plus a Spectral Gamma Ray and Caliper Instruments. We are continuously expanding this product line to meet our customers requirements.
ANTARES offers 3 different ratings for the instruments:
They are as flexible and reliable as the 3 3/8” tool string and run under the same surface system. Once you purchase ANTARES tools, we become partners and offer you a tailor made package according to your requirements. The package can consist of training, commissioning, maintenance and even research & development activities – it’s your choice.

Tools like the PDN are accepted by National Oil Companies like ADCO in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait Petroleum. Other tools like the FPI instrument are so sensitive and show such a high degree of repeatability, that they are accepted by major oil companies in Germany to determine the ‘top of the cement’. Once you purchase our tools, we become partners and offer you a tailor made package according to your requirements. The package can consist of training, commissioning, maintenance and even research & development activities – it’s your choice.

The ANTARES PDN has been accepted by National Oil Companies like ADCO in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait Petroleum and is also established in the Gulf of Mexico. Even if the base log has been run by one of the big service companies, several examples show that the ANTARES PDN can be used for time lapse logging. The instrument is a so called ‘Neutron – Gamma’ tool, i.e. It emits high energy neutrons (14 MeV) which interact with the surrounding nuclei, losing energy until they are captured. When the Neutrons are captured, the nucleus emits Gamma Rays, which are detected by the PDN relative to the time of the neutron burst. This is a measure for the thermal neutron capture cross section ( Σ ) and the tool provides real time Borehole Sigma and Formation Sigma readings.
The analysis of the measurements allow evaluation of the remaining saturation (Sor), identification of possible bypassed hydrocarbons, recognition of certain lithologies and estimation of formation porosity. The ANTARES PDN works in medium to high porosities and water salinities of 40,000 ppm and above.

Multifinger Caliper instruments detect and measure deformations, bending, holes and corrosion of a casing string. With up to 56 measuring fingers, the Multifinger Caliper provides a high resolution “image” of the ID of the casing.
Three sizes of the Multifinger Caliper are available, configured to investigate tubings and casings from 2-7/8” to 13-5/8”. The instruments run below the ANTARES Cased hole telemetry, which provides GR and CCL curves for exact depth correlation and allows for combination with several ANTARES Cased hole instruments.
With LogView 3D the user can take a virtual trip through the casing or borehole via images acquired by imaging tools such as a Multifinger Caliper. The 3-dimensional display can be moved, zoomed and turned. It can also be transferred to a memory stick or CD to be viewed outside the GeoBase environment. An independent program for viewing can be supplied to the customer together with the data.

Research expeditions have special requirements. ANTARES has delivered custom tools to major scientific institutes:
LIAG uses our equipment for ongoing research projects in the far reaches of Antarctica, the Andes, and on Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. These projects are often part of international research programs like the ICDP – International Continental Drilling Program.
On our doorstep LIAG uses ANTARES tools for geothermal, geophysical and geological projects sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, the German Science Foundation and other federal, European and international research foundations.
The ANTARES DSC tool measures the 3-dimensional shape of caverns filled with brine. It is widely used in the mining industry and accepted by mining authorities. The instrument is equipped with two identical sonar transducers which scan the cavern wall with an ultrasonic signal in all directions. With its pivoted head, the tool can scan up to 90 deg. up and down. The tool also measures the fluid pressure, fluid temperature, and the tool inclination and (magnetic) orientation.
A ‘Dual String Collar Locator’ inside the tool differentiates between collars of an inner (and potentially movable) production string and an outer cemented casing.

The Miniaturised Temperature Data Loggers (MTL) were developed for high precision temperature measurements in marine environments.
They offer a wide variety of marine science applications wherever a high precision temperature measurement is of interest and temperature gradients need to be documented over long-term (several months to 2 years) or short-term periods.
Some typical applications are:
The MTLs were constructed to be extremely robust, small (16 cm long) and easy to operate in water depths up several thousands of meters. The logging duration and sampling rate can be chosen independently.
The MTLs are delivered together with a communication unit and software to configure and download the loggers as well as to store the data in different formats without opening the pressure case.
The loggers were field tested during several expeditions by the University of Bremen, used by them to measure sediment temperature gradients in several geological settings.
Three types of the loggers are available:
